In season 2, the Venezuelan President is involved in a plot surrounding the discovery of Tantalum in Venezuela. It is discussed that China controls nearly all of the world's supply and it was mainly mined in China and almost nowhere else. It is also mentioned that Tantalum is extremely priceless. While very valuable for use in strengthening other metals in an alloy, and used extensively in electronics production, Tantalum's price was only $162/kg in 2019 and China does NOT in reality control all of the world's supply. Between Rwanda and the DR of Congo over 62% of the world's supply is produced. It is also mined in several other places throughout the world, even in Canada.
