The fictional murder in the film eerily foreshadows the death of actress Lana Clarkson on February 3, 2003 for which producer Phil Spector was found guilty of second-degree murder. Both the fictional and the real involved "playing around" with a gun in her mouth and a single shot. Phil Spector said, as Max Pavell might have, she "kissed the gun."
