During Blaine's flashback, there is a shot of him with a hand-cranked, multiple-exposure effect. This was shot on 35mm film, with cinematographer Bojan Bazelli operating his personal Arriflex 35 IIC camera. He thought that this effect was more convincing and authentic if actually captured on film, rather than shooting in digital and faking it in post-production. According to him, about ten percent of the finished movie was shot on film.
