David White portrayed J. Jonah Jameson in the 2-hour pilot. When the series was given the green light by CBS, White was unavailable. He was replaced by Robert F. Simon. The irony of this is that White portrayed Larry Tate, Darrin Stephens' boss on Bewitched (1964), while Simon portrayed Darrin's father, Frank Stephens on that show as well.
