Steven Soderbergh always appreciated non-linear storytelling. He remembers being introduced to it as a teenager with the New Wave films from France and the UK, and, up to that point, he only understood movies to tell a story from beginning to middle to end. "Even though Citizen Kane is one of the more non-linear movies that you can think of, it doesn't feel like it, but it is."
