According to Vincent D'Onofrio, to prepare himself for Private Pyle's final scene, he had the nursery rhyme "Three Blind Mice" playing in his head before and during the scene was filmed. He discovered that the nursery rhyme not only relaxed him, but also put him in the state of mind that he found fitting for the scene.
