Though the film opens with an explanation for the meaning of Michael's toy white horse, and it frequently appears alongside his mother in his hallucinations, Rob Zombie has said it doesn't really have any deeper meaning than what is already established in the film, to counter the many fan theories trying to explain its significance. The toy horse is simply a representation of Michael's lost innocence and nothing more, as it's a toy from his once happy childhood. According to Zombie, he picked a white horse as it was more cinematic, and that it really could have been anything else instead, including a fire truck engine.
