This is the first version of Dark Shadows in which Barnabas Collins does not bite Willie Loomis (though Barnabas does hypnotize him into becoming his servant). It is also the only screen adaptation in which Barnabas is not released from his chained coffin by Willie, and the only one in which Barnabas bites Dr. Julia Hoffman. In the original Dark Shadows (1966), Dr. Hoffman was bitten by two different vampires, but never Barnabas.
