It's only in series 6 episode 6 "Fire Down Below", with a plot about cleaning the chimney, that the 2 main sets show the fireplaces in both flats. This both establishes that the audience have been watching them through the literal 4th wall, where the fireplaces are located, and also finally establishes the sizes of the actual flats. This is also the only episode that the "4th wall" rotates to become the wall where the windows are - usually on screen right. It still doesn't establish exactly how the layouts of the 2 flats sync up.
