While watching the Union soldiers attack the Confederates on the bridge Blondie laments to Tuco about the awful waste of men. At this point in the film he has personally killed 10 men, and allowed one more to die on the rope. By the end of the film, with Angel Eyes added to the list, that makes an even dozen fatalities by his own hand.
