Love Story, written by the Mirza Brothers was originally to be made under the Rose Movies banner produced by Ramesh Behl. It was to be directed by Sunil Dutt and was to star Sanjay Dutt and Tina Munim. However the writers had a fall-out with Ramesh Behl and they took the script to Rajendra Kumar who then launched his son Kumar Gaurav.
