The portrayal of Max Baer in this movie is utterly false. Baer did only kill one person and it haunted him for the rest of his life; he even paid for his opponent's kids' college educations. The death of Frankie Campbell was the referee's fault; he didn't even stop the fight when Campbell was hanging unconscious on the ropes. After the fight Baer sat in the locker room with Campbell and his family, holding Campbell's hand, as they waited for the ambulance.
