An inventory of the bullet-riddled Ford V-8 revealed Clyde and Bonnie possessed at the time of death: three Browning automatic rifles, two sawed-off shotguns, almost a dozen handguns, thousands of rounds of ammunition, 15 sets of stolen license plates, several suitcases full of clothes, Bonnie's makeup case, a fishing tackle box, several true crime magazines, road maps and Clyde's saxophone (Clyde at one time dreamed of being a professional musician). Hamer took all the weapons and tackle box; another posse member, Bob Alcorn, took Clyde's saxophone.Bonnie's mother Emma and Clyde's mother Cumie pleaded with Hamer to return the arsenal so they could raise desperately needed cash at a collectors' auction, but Hamer refused. Alcorn later became conscience-stricken and returned the saxophone to the Barrow family.
