The last four surviving regular cast members of this series all died in 2021. Cloris Leachman died on January 27, 2021. Gavin MacLeod died on May 29, 2021. Edward Asner died on August 29, 2021. Betty White died on December 31, 2021. All four were in their 90's, with White less than a month away from her 100th birthday. While John Amos, still alive as of the end of 2021, was also featured as Gordy the weatherman, he only appeared in 13 episodes, mostly in the first season, during the entire run of the series 1970-1977. Further 2021 passings associated to the series are co-creator/co-executive producer Allan Burns who died January 30, 2021, and Jay Sandrich, director of 119 of the series episodes, passing on September 22, 2021.
