In season 1 episode 4 when Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin) and Jan (Amy Ryan) serenaded each other through their open windows Jan played the song, "Under the Bamboo Tree" with her bassoon to Charles. In the comedy "The Man with Two Brains" (1983) Steve Martin's character sang the same song to a disembodied brain.
