In his biography, Christopher Reeve claims this film's failure, along with Superman IV (1987), Aviator - Amore tra le nuvole (1985), and Street Smart - Per le strade di New York (1987), knocked him off the A-list in Hollywood and he would have to audition for major roles for the rest of his career.
