Lucy was very superstitious. She actually believed a major reason for her success with the first series was that her character's last name, Ricardo, had an "A" and a "R" in it. Which is why with this show the last name was "Carmichael", and for Here's Lucy (1968), it was "Carter", and Life with Lucy (1986), it was "Barker".
