Contrary to popular belief, Eternals is not the first Marvel movie to portray a sex scene, as the main characters in Daredevil (2003) and Deadpool (2016) both engage in onscreen sex. Additionally, a superhero having sex was also prevalent in Superman II (1980), which became the basis for Superman Returns (2006). Also contrary to the marketing, this is not the first MCU film to have a sex scene as well. Iron Man (2008) had a small one-night-stand scene between Tony Stark and Christine Everhart and The Incredible Hulk (2008) also had a small love scene between Bruce Banner and Betty Ross.
