The role of Reggie Porter Montgomery was played from 2003 to 2006 by Michael B. Jordan, but he was not the first actor to play the character. That was Chadwick Boseman, who played Montgomery in only three episodes in January 2003. In May 2018, during a speech at his alma mater, Howard University, Boseman said that he was fired from this show after asking questions about his character's background and motivations, and implying that he thought that Montgomery was written to conform to negative racial stereotypes. Boseman and Jordan later appeared together in Black Panther (2018).
