Vikram is not the first Indian film to be a crossover of characters from existing films as this was first done in Malayalam through film Balram vs. Tharadas (2006) staring Mammooty. The film was a crossover of the protagonist Inspector Balram seen in Aavanazhi (1986) & Inspector Balram (1991) & the antagonist, Tharadas seen in Athirathram (1984). Both characters were essayed by Mammooty himself.
