The final showdown takes place in a church, which is where Eddie first acquired the Venom symbiote in the comics. As such, a ringing church bell is one of the major factors in the battle. During said showdown, Venom grabs on to Anne's hand who dangles off the edge of the church tower, and she is reflected in Venom's eye, much like how Peter Parker tried to save Gwen Stacy. The way Frances falls down from the bell tower in slow motion also resembles Gwen Stacy's death in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014).
