Russell T. Davies named Rose Tyler and Captain Jack Harkness, the central characters from Titanic (1997). Kate Winslet whom played Rose Dewitt Bukater in that movie was originally going to play River Song when Alex Kingston was cast and in the 2007 Christmas Special, The 10th Doctor (David Tennant) arrives on a spaceship named after the RMS Titanic.
