Months before the series was announced as canceled, it was reported that Melissa Benoist wanted to distance herself from the role of Kara Danvers/Supergirl to avoid being typecast. However, Benoist stated that she is "not opposed to putting on the suit again and I know there probably will be opportunities to. It would have to feel right for the character and I know they would probably do it justice."
