Multiple times throughout the series, the shortcomings and issues of Michael Barone (Sullivan Sweeten) are focused on quite a bit, while his brother, Geoffrey Barone (Sawyer Sweeten ) is largely ignored, and isn't involved in as many story-lines. For example, in Tutti amano Raymond: Left Back (1999) Michael is in danger of not moving onto kindergarten from preschool, due to his inability to keep up with the other students. In Tutti amano Raymond: Home from School (2003) Michael doesn't want to go to school, because he's being made fun of by the other kids. In Tutti amano Raymond: The Angry Family (2001) Michael draws what the grownups fear is a cartoon depiction of the rest of the family, causing some very unneeded tension.
