According to showrunner Greg Yaitanes, every director they hired said working on the series was the hardest thing they ever did because the pacing varied so much. Sex scenes were shot very slow and fight scenes were very fast. He said they searched around the world for people making interesting stuff that is "Banshee"-esque and made on a similar schedule. He also pointed out that they had more satisfying results with the international directors they hired than American directors, especially when it came to handling the graphic sex and extensive nudity.
