SS Wilson and Brent Maddock were inspired to create the town of Perfection, Nevada after visiting the real-life community of Darwin, California during a film shoot for the U.S. Navy. Darwin is a barren ex-mining community with only 32 residents that can only be accessed by a single dirt road nearly 40 miles away from the next town over. Also similar to Perfection, the town has no school, police station, or hospital, and is completely cut-off from internet, cell phone towers, or cable television. Darwin has been the subject of many documentaries, and filming for Tremors reshoots actually took place there.
