In the screenplay, Santanico Pandemonium was supposed to dance to a recording of "Down in Mexico" by The Coasters. In the film, Robert Rodriguez used "After Dark" by Tito & Tarantula, who played the house band in this movie. Quentin Tarantino reused the idea of a dance to "Down in Mexico" in Grindhouse - A prova di morte (2007).
