The ending to the anime plays out differently than the manga. In both versions, Satoru confronts Yashiro about the Murders, But in the Manga, It's set at a rehabilitation retreat at Mt. Fugi on a Bridge. Yashiro attempts to kill both of them by lightning the Bridge on Fire, But Satoru is able tackle him & throw both of them into the River. In the anime, Satoru is able to trick Yashiro into letting him fall of the building, where his Friends have set up a crash mat down below. The changes drew some criticisms from fans of the manga, stating the anime's ending was too campy.
