This show was a way for NBC to keep both Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien at the network. Leno was being called to ABC (and offered the world) after O'Brien took over The Tonight Show, which Leno still very much wanted. Also, Leno was put at 10pm in case O'Brien didn't do well in the ratings at 11:30 pm, which he didn't. After which, Leno returned to The Tonight Show.
