Dixon's last line in his rap song about the Worm says "If the sunshine don't work, the good lord bring the rain in!" This foreshadows how the weather will play out throughout the movie. When he tells Officer Jim Kurring "I told you who done it and you're not even listening to me." He's saying his father, Jerome Samuel Hall AKA "The Worm," is who killed Porter Parker, Marcie's estranged husband who is found dead in the closet. Dixon calls Parker his father's "long time oppressor" which is a more subtle example of abusive estranged fathers whose actions catch up with them.
