The final battle between Super Sonic and the Death Egg Robot brings reminders of Super Sonic's first appearance in Sonic X (2003), including him catching Eggman's giant robot's punch and destroying its hand (Albeit in opposite order), and completely blitzing the machine before it goes down. The lead-up is even quite similar, with Sonic being badly battered and bruised from Eggman's giant robot, and his human companion(s) being endangered by Eggman as well before he goes Super to stop the doctor.
