Paul Verhoeven first saw Jennifer Jason Leigh in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) which he "thought was a really nice movie." He was concerned if she'd be up for the "staggering" amount of nudity and sexual violence this role required, but she made it clear it wasn't an issue.
