The cast, especially Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, have stated that the most rewarding part of their job is hearing people tell them that the show made it easier for them to come out as gay. In one heartwarming example, a child came out to his parents, and his mom's response was: "Well, which are you? Mitch or Cam?"
