At the end of the movie, the grandmother's high school rival is played by Cloris Leachman. Betty White and Leachman used to trade barbs on Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970) as Sue Ann Nivens and Phyllis Lindstrom. In fact, Sue Ann once had an affair with Phyllis' husband, Lars.
