Show runner Petro "Farting Rat" Duszara is simply referred to as "Fart" by his friends and colleagues when working on set. Actor Michael Madsen had this to say about Duszara after his shooting experience on Season 1 of Real Detective (2016): "Fart is short, soft and not very loud, but when he leaves the room you can still feel his presence. Fart sticks with you for a while."
