At the beginning of the fifth season of the show, many featured several guest actors who played police officers in previous television series: James Darren from T.J. Hooker; Fred Dryer from Hunter; Martin Milner and Kent McCord from Adam 12; and Angie Dickinson. from Police Woman. McCord also starred with Dick's son - Barry Van Dyke in the short-lived Galactica 1980.
