In early episodes of season one, Sheldon (Jim Parsons ) mentions having an older brother, in addition to his twin sister, Missy (Courtney Henggeler ). In one instance, he mentions being bullied by this older brother. However, while Missy has been seen on the show, the brother was never mentioned again, even when his mother (played by Laurie Metcalf ) visits. She only mentions Missy. He was mentioned in season three episode four, The Big Bang Theory: The Pirate Solution (2009), as well. In later seasons, Sheldon's brother was mentioned in season seven episode eleven, The Big Bang Theory: The Cooper Extraction (2013), season eight episode twenty, The Big Bang Theory: The Fortification Implementation (2015), season eight episode twenty-three, The Big Bang Theory: The Maternal Combustion (2015), and season nine episode five, The Big Bang Theory: The Perspiration Implementation (2015). Sheldon's older brother is shown in the Big Bang Theory spin-off, Young Sheldon (2017). His older brother makes his first appearance in season 11.
