It is possible that Sir Alfred Hitchcock and Ernest Lehman modelled The Professor, the head of the American Intelligence Agency, on John Foster Dulles (Secretary of State from 1953 to 1959) and his brother, Allen W. Dulles (head of the CIA from 1953 to 1961).
