Both Uncharted (2022) and this film premiered within about a month of each other. Both feature films are movies in the fantasy-adventure genre as per Jumanji (1995) and Indiana Jones. The Lost City has been likened to All'inseguimento della pietra verde (1984) whilst Uncharted has been likened to I predatori dell'arca perduta (1981). Romancing the Stone was 20th Century Fox's attempt to cash in on the success of Raiders of the Lost Ark and followed it a few years after debuting in the same year as Indiana Jones e il tempio maledetto (1984). Similarly, the Romancing the Stone-like film The Lost City has followed after the Indiana Jones-like film Uncharted in theatrical release time and was distributed afterwards (though the release comparison timing was not intentional for this reason).
