The show's first line was "Stinks in 'ere dunnit?", uttered by Den Watts who, along with Pete Beale and Ali Osman, discovered a dying Reg Cox. In the show's 30th anniversary episode in 2015, Pete's nephew, Martin Fowler, says the same line when he, Stacey Fowler and Kush Kamezi discover the dead body of Nick Cotton - Reg's killer - in the exact same spot.
