When Lex Luthor sneaks away from his penthouse and into his secret laboratory, he's briefly seen wearing a fake wig and beard of red hair to disguise himself. This is a nod to the 1992 comic book series, where Lex's (then) design had him sporting long, red hair, and a beard. At the time, the belief was that Lex Luthor was actually a clone of the original bald Lex Luthor, who had died of cancer because of his exposure to radiation poisoning from being around Kryptonite so often (most notably his custom made ring). However, a couple years after Superman's death, it was revealed the original Lex had transplanted his brain into the clone body and was indeed the original Luthor all along.
