H.M. Submarine Alliance (P147) is an Amphion class (A class) submarine launched for the Royal Navy in 1947. She underwent modernization in 1958 to 1960, and in 1961, was renumbered as S67. In 1968, she grounded on Bembridge Ledge off the coast of the Isle of Wight, but was successfully refloated, and in 1971, she suffered a fatal battery explosion off of Portland. From 1973 to 1979 she served as a static training vessel at H.M.S. Dolphin (a shore base) after which she underwent hull strengthening to allow her to be lifted ashore, and in 1981, she arrived in dry dock in Gosport, Hampshire where she now serves as a museum and a memorial to all Royal Naval Submariners who have died in service.
