Despite the unprecedented realism of the models, props and scenes of this film the space helmets drew criticism because, despite being futuristic they did not allow for an upward view, nor the bending of the neck to allow for an upward view. The overall look of these helmets, along with this obvious flaw, would return in the sci-fi reboot series, Battlestar Galactica (2004). In the series the problem was actually worse, as they were worn by fighter pilots.
