Director Sam Raimi wanted to cast his friend Bruce Campbell as Peyton/Darkman, but the studio did not approve of it. Raimi still got his wish in a way: Campbell briefly plays Darkman in his final disguise at the end. He also voiced some of the screams of characters who fall to their deaths.
