As a tip of the hat to his generation, writer and director Thomas Bezucha shows a glimpse of the original 1970s "Norelco Santa" commercial on the Stones' living room television as Everett and Julie set out to find Meredith. Bezucha also highlights an extended clip of Judy Garland singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" from Incontriamoci a Saint Louis (1944), which Susanna is watching on The Late Show during the Christmas Eve sequence.
