Composer Hans Zimmer got his 11th Oscar nomination for Best Musical Score for this movie, and it earned him the second Oscar of his long career, 27 years after Il Re Leone (1994). He wasn't at the Academy Award ceremony to collect it personally because he was giving a series of concerts in Amsterdam, so cast member and presenter Jason Momoa accepted the award on his behalf.
