Though not shown nor mentioned in the film, after Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley separated in 1972, Elvis ended up briefly dating a young woman named Mary Kathleen Selph. The woman, who went by Kathy, was a dancer and singer at a local Memphis club called World Away. She and Elvis met at the club and started dating in June. Kathy was said to have some resemblance to Priscilla. Tragically, a month later, she died at the age of 20 in an automobile accident while driving home from work. When Elvis was told of her death while he was on tour, he was devastated. He sent a large wreath and batches of flowers to Kathy's family at her funeral.
