It's commonly believed that Venom inherited the memories of its Spider-Man 3 (2007) counterpart before it died via Knull's hivemind, which explains why Venom is seemingly able to recognize (a version of) Peter Parker. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)?reinforces this theory, since every supervillain who was brought into the MCU knew that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, something that neither Eddie nor the symbiote explicitly had knowledge of.
