The completely transformed vampires in the final battle the production could only afford to create six full-body vampire costumes. Rodriguez used several editing tricks to make them seem like more, mostly by rearranging them in every shot and having the heroes kill the same vampires over and over again. For the first crowd shot of the vampire army the six actors playing the vampires were shot against a green screen and multiplied. When the heroes leave the storage for the final battle the six fully made-up vampires are in the front while the background crowd was made up of stage hands and make-up artists with simple body paint as well as the immobile vampire-puppets used for certain shots.
