The movie is centered on the premises of the First World War and the geopolitical strategies of the war, mostly from the British perspective, without once mentioning France. The closest it gets is at the very end, when the Treaty of Versailles is mentioned. For reference, France was one of the main powers in this conflict, most of the western front was on French soil and many of the war's bloodiest battles happened in France.
